Biography
Rade Sklopić – Raid Kyu is a composer, producer, pianist and DJ/turntablist. His original work brings together instrumental hip-hop, jazz, electronic, piano and classical music, beatmaking, scratching and tone play.
He opened his solo discography with the album “Little Box”, followed by the conceptual instrumental album “12 Rooms”, which pairs music with illustrations and short comics. Released in two chapters and on vinyl, “Stray Cats & Sunsets” combines jazz hip-hop, vocals, live instruments, scratching and tone play; every composition is written and performed by Raid Kyu.
At the piano he performs his more reflective compositions, including pieces from his albums and music for theatre, while his live quartet combines instrumental music, drum and bass, hip-hop, electronic music and scratching. As an educator, his DJ workshops pass on knowledge of turntables, mixers, production and turntablism.
DJ Raid Kyu first appeared on Budjenje in a joint episode with DJ Korda, then returned for a new solo episode about his journey, international experience, name change and the relationship between music and new technology.
