Joker

Marjan “Maksa” Todorović, known in hip-hop as Joker, was born in Niš in 1979. He graduated in acting from the Faculty of Arts in Priština, in Professor Svetozar Rapajić’s class, and performed at the SKC Student Theatre in Niš before turning professional. He is a member of the acting ensemble of the National Theatre Niš.

His stage credits include “Sumnjivo lice”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven”, “U čije ime” and other productions. He wrote the plays “Ees mooda”, “Zer0” and “Mostovi”, composed music for theatre productions, and appeared in the films “Zona Zamfirova”, “Đerdap”, “Po Suncu hoda” and “Sporazum”. His dramatic writing received awards from the Niš Art Foundation and the Heartefact Foundation, while he was named Serbia’s best slam poet at the Days of Poetry festival in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

As a former member of the Niš hip-hop group D-Fence, he helped release two albums and performed at more than one hundred concerts across Serbia, including the Exit, Nisomnia and Zalet festivals. As Joker, he was the guest of Budjenje’s pilot episode, connecting his experience as an actor, playwright, poet and performer with the history of the Niš rap scene.
