Saša Petrović

Saša Petrović is a hip-hop journalist, promoter and chronicler of the Serbian scene who has followed and documented the culture for more than two decades. He was never a performing artist; his contribution grew through forums, media, promotion and connecting people involved in rap, DJing, graffiti and breakdance.

In the early 2000s, he was part of the Serbian Underground forum story, a space where artists were discovered, demos were shared and a community was built before social media and streaming platforms became dominant. Around two decades ago, he launched the Geto Srbija YouTube channel, which became an important promotional outlet for street and underground artists and helped many reach an audience. He also worked within Basivity, gaining experience in the more professional side of the music industry.

In Budjenje #13, he discusses the journey from forums to the modern industry: changes in how music is discovered, streaming and revenue, festivals, international collaborations, merchandise and vinyl. He emphasizes that hip-hop is not only rap but a culture in which graffiti, breakdance and DJing are equally important, even if they are less visible in the mainstream today.
