NEMUS Live in Nisville: a new chapter in front of the local audience

Nemus is not a new name to the Niš audience.

But what we saw at this year's Nišville was new.

Nemanja Nedeljkovic went to Hip-Hop Stage and presented a new solo project and new songs in front of his city.

For someone who has been known as half a Stereo Banana for more than a decade, this is no small change.

Nisville thus became the place where the audience for the first time got a more concrete picture of what Nemus is building outside the well-known Banana Universe.

Stereo Banana to Nemus

Nemus and Naopak made one of the most recognizable Niš musical stories of the last fifteen years through Stereo Banana.

“Šijemo sambu”, “Munje nebjeske” and “Niške strasti” turned their blend of rap, electronics, bass and local Niš madness into something they once called kungfusion.

But Nemus has been developing a different copyright direction for some time.

The first serious signal came through the song Flow, made with Albert Braun. Nemus handled the music, arrangement and mix, while Albert provided the lyrics and vocals. The video was filmed in the Niš neighborhood of Crvena zvezda, and it helped “Flow” become the best-known track from their work together.

And cooperation does not end there.

Nemus and Albert are preparing a joint album, so Nišville was an opportunity to present some of this new material to the audience for the first time.

Friday, August 14, Hip-Hop Stage.

Jahmesenjah Sound opens the evening, and from 10 pm it is on NEMUS live, before the final set of the Greek producer Mister T.

The name itself has already indicated that it is not just a producer who plays his bits. With Albert's vocals and live saxophone, the stage was alive. And that's where this project gets interesting.

Nemus has long been the man behind much of the sound, production and instrumental side of the band in Stereo Banana. The solo project now gives him the opportunity to bring that part of his identity to the fore, without having to sound like what he had been doing for the previous ten or fifteen years.

So far, there is not much material, which Nemus himself told the audience during the performance.

This is why, in the end, repeated "Flow", with his comment that he would play his "most expensive" song once again. The allusion was, of course, on the spot – so far the most ambitious visual part of their new project, but also the reason why Flow is currently the most recognizable thing to the audience.

Best place to start

For the debut of a new project, it is difficult to find a more logical place than Nis.

More precisely – Hip-Hop Stage in Nisville.

Because here Nemus did not have to explain to the audience who he was.

He could have immediately shown What next?.

Stereo Banana remains Stereo Banana.

But now, at the same time, there is a new story, new songs and an album that is yet to come.
